priceless...

was watching Super Sunday last sundae on tv...

its was a repeat telecast of an espisode of the Super Mission which i've nv seen b4. on this particular espisode, the featured celebrity was 高慧君, the female singer who sang 你最珍贵 with 张学友. she wanted to find this primary sch classmate who left a deep impression on her 10+ yrs ago.

高慧君 was transfered from her village sch to this new pri sch in the city and being a village gal with darker skin... she was easily outcast by her peers... and couldn't make any new frens. being far away from her family and without any frens... she was very sad and her school work was affected greatly.

being a village kid... she was still using normal pencils which need to be sharpened daily for usage... while her peers were already using mechanical lead pencils. during a particular test, her sharpened pencils were chipped off before she even started the test. being stubborn, she refused to borrow a pencil from other classmates and began to sharpen her pencils using a small pen knife she had. while sharpening her pencils, her peers who completed their papers left one after n other... this made her anxious and she broke the lead a few times n had to sharpen all over again... at her wits end, this boy from her class came to her rescue by passing her a new mechanical pencil while he left the classroom...

she was really grateful of his gesture... its was the first time she felt some1 caring for her after she left her hometown... she kept this feeling within her when she left the sch 1 yr later and even until the present time... whenever she thought of this boy she would remember this feeling of warm and care... this made her want to meet up with this boy from her class again and thank him and to let him know that his little gesture had affected her greatly at the point of time in her life...

yup... in the end ah liang was able to find this boy and bought a happy ending to the show... wow... it was just a small gesture tat din cost much was able to affect her greatly and remember it for her entire life...

maybe somtimes we are just too bz with our own lives and forget abt the people working or staying close to us... small gestures like saying "hi" or giving some1 a smile may just brighten their dae... i believe we just have to pause a while and look ard... tink n do somethings... small gestures will even do for our loved ones... do it now rather than regret later...

1 normal pencil 50 cents
1 mechanical pencil $2.00
1 gesture that affects a person's life and to remember it forever... priceless

new birds

1. try asking "wheres the admin annex"

2. when u are at canteen A bus stop, tell ur fren aloud on the bus "hey south spine liaoz... lets alight"

3. sign up for flag dae thinking tat the 9 unslashable pts is a super good deal... if u only can fill the can with stones...

4. after u signed up for flag dae... show off ur goodie bag esp tat silver tin can

shepherds n sheeps... no dinos

back to school...

wow was fun to return back to campus on the 1st dae of the semester... entire campus was buzzing with pple... n i really mean lots of ppl... as compared to normal sch daes... not only were the canteens packed... the walkways n carparks were full of undergrads... nv know lots of ppl so guai to attend lectures todae heehee.

it was great to see old frens, classmates back in sch... the feeling was just "soong". every1 had smiles on their faces... mayb its the 1st dae bah... the stress level at their minimum... no piled up tutorials, date due assignments or unfinished projects to worry about... hmmm no wonder every1 seemed fresh n ready to battle hard for this incoming sem...

yup 1st dae of sch... definitely the time again for the start of each acad. yr to raise our antennas, set the range for our radars, synchronise our signals and start bio-ing the freshies... hahaha yesh... canteen A, the ideal bio-ing location for me n my "people watch" kakis... its was easy to differentiate these new birds with us the 3rd yr old birds... the 85 gals appeared lost as usual... just like sheeps seekin gentlemanly shepherds... that made some of them look kinda cute... however my kakis observed existance of many more "dinosaurs" walking amongst these lost sheeps as compared to previous yrs...  the 83 guys looked real funky with their coloured hair n youthful attitudes... hmmm mayb we old birds shld also invest on a new hairdo or will be classified as LKKs n be obsolete to the gals in no time...

Run away

i started enjoy running after i moved into hall...

esp enjoy those late nite runs round the campus... having the chilling nite wind blowin at u while u run...

running at nite round campus is like an auto reboot of my mental system. whenever i'm pissed off, agitated, sianz, depressed, stuck at tutorials, i would just go and run. it would b like running away from them. the mind momentary turns off the negative thoughts and u just focus on running... yes just run... the mind just tells the body to "jiayou" not to give up and run and run til the end pt...

and after the hard run... *soong* tats the only hokkien word best to describe the feeeeeling... the mind is clearer n thoughts flow smooth... most things get solved after tat...

hmmm of course there are daes when u dun feel tat bad n u just feel like goin for a run... its healthy mah... one of the cheapest form of exercise... sometimes u just have to make the heart pump a bit faster n the lungs to exhale the bad air in u... just like the normal engine... u need to let it run... do a bit of maintanace... at least i'm at the age where i can run long and hard at my own pace...

my running route was the usual 179 route... the killer was alwaes the up slope from canteen a to the new bs building... esp when u see bangalahs in saroongs lurking at the bs construction site grazing at u while u cheong the slope... panting...

its was until i was sianz of the 179 direction tat i tried the 199 route... my inital feel of the 199 route ard hall 13 to 15 was tat it resembled the famous Tekong Highway late at nite... with the rows of lamp post by the road, the smell n feel of the tress under the orange lamp lights... eeee... nightmares! (guess all ns guys frm tekong bmt will nv forget)

still remember once while i was running by hall 14 to 15 late at nite... there was tis girl alone across the road... wow i thought... rather happening siah... wats she doin so late in the nite? 10m down the road... i saw tis guy and all of a sudden the gal broke into tears n screamed at him.. then did i realise it was a couple having an arguement in middle of the nite...

hmmm mayb they shld just join me and run away...

Hey dude wheres your car?

just ended a wk of fun n siong orientation...

met new frens and fostered stronger relations with old frens... but din really get to know any freshies leh... how sad... mayb getting old liaoz... generation gap getting wider between the 81's n the 85's.

i think most Sg gals can be materialistic or should i say more practical... theres this incident in camp where my fren got to pair up with a cute freshie for his SP (Special Partner ) nite...

SP Nite is a program during our camp where the all freshies will be paired up to form couples and the guys will have to treat their gal partners to a romantic dinner out. being in a camp where the population of gals was twice tat of guys... the poor seniors  (like me) would have to "top-up / sacrifice" their wonderful nite for this event so as to pair up the remaining gals (haha).

blind dates... tats wat we called it... kinda SDU stuff but hey SDU pumped lots of $ for our camp leh... so ok lah... win-win situation mah :)

as i was saying... when my fren met up with his SP tat evening, the first question his female partner asked was "Do u have a car?" Woa... tat was kinda shocking for the "first impression"... my fren whos a nice guy and doesnt drive was rather sad when he heard tat... hmmm mayb there was a slight drizzle tat evening when they met up... having a car to drive her for dinner was definitely a bonus... but hey dashing in the rain to the bus stop to catch 179 could be as romantic as well... hmmm errr mayb not in NTU bah... too many slopes in campus... hahaha

sometimes i just have to believe tat cars are the babe magnets... its not surprising to see gals crowd round guys who drive... tink theres just too many examples out there tat show cars are great tools to woo gals...

no cars = no gals
i've still got prob to prove tat its wrong...
