Another thought on Cars

recently took up this elective called Choice Theory n Reality Therapy...

ya after i pass can get free consulation on any psycho stuff from me... hahaha...

during lesson tis wk the Prof was teachin us our this idea of Total Behavior which really "sparked" me... she used this Car to illustrate the idea tat our behavior is generated in the attempt to get what is wanted...

firstly the car body represents the human wants... the motor or engine which drives the car, represents the 5 basic needs tats genetically encoded in every human... namely Belonging/Love, Survial, Power, Freedom n Fun. similarly this means tat our wants are driven by our 5 basic needs... the wheels represent the 4 components of Total Behaviour... the 2 front wheels represent Acting and Thinking while the 2 rear wheels represent Feeling and Physiology...

for a car... the 2 front wheels can be easily steered by the steering wheel as compared to the 2 rear wheels... which means tat acting n thinking can control our behaviour more easily than our feeling n physiology...

for physiology... we can't control how fast the heart beats... when we're feeling angry or anxious... we dun have direct control over it... we can't stop being angry with some1 immediately... it takes time to subside... comparing acting and thinking, the Prof mentioned tat the humans will have almost total control of our actions than our thoughts... thus we are able to control our behavior by mainly controlling our actions... when we are able to change what we are doing, our thought, feelings n physiological responses changes...

therefore we can control our total behavior to a great extent by doing something different to help us feel good of ourselves...
