went down to jurong town stadium for sighters round todae...
sighters... non-scoring rounds where archers are allowed to shoot in the competition ground before the actual dae of the competiton... for warm-ups... familarisation... zeroing of our own sights to the targets
the bus driver drove like in initial D... so we missed a stop... alighted at the nx possible stop n waited for the rain to turn to a drizzle b4 we back-tracked to the stadium...
with soakin wet feet... we reached the competiton ground close to 5pm
from the pa system...."so tis will be the last end of sighters round todae... "
then someone in the background said... "eh ntu lai le"
wat the?
i remembered the timing for sighters was 2 - 6pm... written clearly in the invite... so i asked DM... who owned the shootin range...
"i thought it was until 6?"
"every1 here knows is until 5" DM replied.... (ma de... after the sighters i went back hall to check the invite... it was until 6pm loh... )
"aas paid us to let u all shoot until 5"
wrigglin my soggy toes... "hey can lah.. let us sight a few ends"
"... kuai dian setup lah"... DM barked (tats wat i felt he was...dog)
so me, fu n hao quickly setup our equipment in the drizzle...
out of courtesy i asked DM... "so we own time own target?"
"u guys shootin? $4 per hour ok... "
wat the!!! i thought u said to let us shoot liaoz... $4 per hr? might as well shoot FOC in ntu... we can shoot up to 90m... ur place only a crappy 18m...
i really din feel like payin... no pt... goin to sight a few ends only... so i said "at most 3 to 4 ends"
...relunctantly he gave the green light...
then he asked "so u guys from where?"
wat the? i still remembered callin u n comin here last wk to buy stuff from u... and u seem so polite n helpful... mayb bcos i was shovin money to ur pockets tats y.... tats y u remembered the cash n not my face ya...
wah... i was really fed up... din really wanna sight le... never have i ever pleaded with pple to let us shoot... its like when u go to the track to jog... then some1 says "eh $4 per hr"
its not like shootin a few holes in ur target will cost much... and its not like givin us a target to shoot will affect ur bizness... nobody is shooin in ur range anyway... we are only here bcos of the competition is to b held in ur range ok...
i hate dealing with "money face" pple... are pple dealing bizness really tat money conscious? is earnin tat extra few bucks more impt than winnin the hearts of customers? sometimes i really wonder will archery ever flourish in sg with these money face bizness ppl ard plus those old uncles holding power positions who only know how to tok cock only. pple like us... just want to shoot... enjoy ourselves... feel the challenge... pls dun try to munipulate the archery circle with ur strife for money n power
